When Black Friday comes...gonna do just what I please...

Okay, how many of you want to show your age and admit that you recognize these lyrics?  Steely Dan just rocks.  And how spot on for our celebration of Black Friday...to clarify, the day after Thanksgiving, November 27th.  Such a great week it will be.  And the day before Thanksgiving, November 25th, just happens to be the birthday of 3 amazing women who mean the world to me...Bonny, Annemarie and Lisa Schmid.  I can't reveal their ages, but I will say they don't look a day over 35.  Happy birthday girls...you know how good I am at forgetting to do something special for you, but just remember I love and adore you and am so thankful that I have y'all as friends for life.

And if you have no real plans for the day following Thanksgiving, a.k.a., Black Friday, let me extend this invitation to you...Come crop with us, all flippin day long.  Okay, seriously...how many of you get this feeling when you're packing up your tools at the end of a crop and wish you had a couple more hours to finish this or that?  How about 14 full hours.  You don't even have to get out of your seat for food.  We'll feed you...well maybe you can feed yourself, but we'll supply the food.  Lunch and Dinner, and snacks all day long.

You can start stalking the big sales before the crack of dawn, then come on over and plop down in a comfy chair and crop all day and well into the night.  And if that's still not enough time, come back on Saturday...we won't be feeding you then, but we'll give you directions to all the food places nearby...the Chinese restaurant next door has the best food in Pinellas County, in my opinion.  And you'll probably be sick of tradional turkey, dressing, potatoes and could certainly go for an eggroll and lo mein.

So here's the skinny...Black Friday crop, 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. $20 ($10 for members).  This will include lunch, dinner, drinks, snacks and unlimited laughter and happiness.  If you want to come back on Saturday, there will be no charge (because there will be no food).  The hours on Saturday will be 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.  And then of course, there's Sunday for you hard-core scrappers; we'll be open from noon until 4 p.m., again, no food/no charge.

And yes, yes, yes, we will be having a Black Friday SALE...hours and details will be posted closer to the date.  But it is a thumbs up...

Workshop thoughts...

Workshop I hope everyone is as excited as we are...And yes, our first workshop is bright and early tomorrow morning 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., a full day packed with creating and laughing and eating.  Here's a few tips for you first-timers and in case you old-timers have forgotten a thing or two.

Bring only what you need.  The room will be full, standing room only at this point.  Please don't bring the rolling totes because there won't be enough room for everyone to bring one, and I will certainly trip over the ones there, so imagine if there were a room full of them.  I suggest bringing your small tool tote, photos if you choose, your trimmer and your camera.  Add some inks to your stash; we'll have some available if you forget, but if you don't like to share, bring your own; think holiday colors, black for stamping, walnut or distress for edges and an acrylic block or two.

We'll be opening the doors to let you in a little bit before 10, but not much sooner.  And here's what we're going to do to make sure you can sit with your friends.  Come to the outside door, not the door in the store and gather your group together.  We'll assemble you there and usher you to your seat.  We're going to try our best to accommodate everyone so that we have a jolly day.

For the workshop on November 14th, we have had 2 cancellations, they can't come but they still want their kit.  So...we now have 2 seats available if anyone is interested.  And we have 1 extra kit left to sell.  Any takers?  Let us know.  I just can't wait for the food tomorrow...yummy yummy Wright's Gourmet.

Not so scary...

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, it arrived.  Webster's Pages.  Four of the most beautiful collections we've ever had in the store.  Two are perfect for Christmas pages; Home for the Holidays and Winter's Wings.  Simply breathtaking, although that description seems a bit much for paper, I think you will all agree with me.  I've not seen anything prettier.  Very vintage, and I know several of you will be running in to snatch some up (Norma? Sharon? Katie? Molly? Bonnie? Michelle?).  And if the papers alone were not perfect enough, for the love of whatever, come and see the trims.  And I am not exaggerating...these trims are sure to win best in show.  Also styling with these lines, we have vintage journaling cards, cameos, and the most perfect alphas you can imagine.

And if you're planning on visiting the most gorgeous of papers, we're open until midnight tonight, for our Friday night crop.  Saturday, we will be closing early at 3 p.m., so we can hurry home and set out candy for the goblins.  And Sunday, of course, we will be open from noon until 4 p.m.

Have a safe Halloween...and save me some chocolate...

Cause sometimes you feel like a nut...

Nut2 Seriously, I can't make this stuff up...how many of you know that today is National Nut Day?  It surely is.  I don't know what most nut lovers do on this special day that probably only comes once a year, but here's an idea...

Nutmeg from Cosmo Cricket might be a good start.  Cute family-oriented line, running a close second to my favorite Earth Love, also by Cosmo Cricket.  Apparently I didn't get the info to you quite fast enough because a few of the ladies at last night's Happy Hour had no idea it was here.

And I don't know if this will get you in the mood for National Nut Day or not, but we've also got the new North Pole Christmas line in from Crate Paper, which BTW...this just happens to be my favorite holiday line.  We have restocked our glitter paper line too, and added a few more colors.

And to remind you ladies who attend our Sunday Social Club, it is THIS Sunday from noon until 2-ish.  And in honor of nut day, we'll be serving up some peanut M&Ms...

So have a happy Thursday and go out and crack some nuts...

Calendar Update

Tampa Scrapbook Store Class

We have some fun happenings this month! First, Rhonda will be teaching another one of those fabulous card classes and it will be next Saturday, October 10th from 11am until 2pm. Its only $7 for 5 cards and she always has fun techniques for you to learn! That up there is a sneak peek of a couple of the cards from this month's class. Call the store to register!

Ive just updated the calendar for October and you can find it by clicking the calendar link at the top right of this page. You'll notice that Happy Hour is back, by popular demand! It will be every Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm and will be $5. If you have no idea what Happy Hour means, we will not be serving two for one drinks at the store...Happy Hour is a fun little way to add pages to your albums quick and easy! A member of the design team creates a 12x12 layout and you drop by, make your page (with or without photos) and go on your way. We have another 12x12 layout to go with the one you just made, what we call "homework" for you to purchase everything you need to recreate the page if you so choose.  It is a ton of fun and SO very rewarding to have a 2 page layout made a week with little effort.

The beginners Classes are back as well! Lisa has scheduled two for this month so if you have a friend you've been dying to bring to a crop but they need a jumpstart, share the news! She scheduled two so as to fit different schedules and they will be Wednesday October 21st from 6-9pm and Saturday October 24th from 11-2pm. The cost is $20 and in these three hours you will learn all the basics of scrapbooking while creating 2 12x12 layouts, 2 cards and a tag.

Just give us a call if you have any questions! See you at the crop tomorrow!

All that glitters is not gold...

...unless it's that wonderful glitter paper that's sitting on our shelves.  This is the most amazing thing I've seen in a while.  We all love a little sparkle, bling and glitter on our layouts or projects.  What we don't like is the mess, scatter and having everything in the room all glittery too.  This new paper is the answer to our shimmery prayers.  The glitter doesn't come off, yep...no matter how hard you try, and we all tried, it's not budging.  So we love it.  We have about a dozen colors to choose from and we're thinking about ordering more.

Thankfully Theresa has been updating you on what's coming through the doors, so now I'll do my part and fill you in on some more.  Making Memories Halloween collection, aptly called "Spooky" is here.  There are a few papers in particular that I'm liking...the witches shoes and the haunted house damask paper to name a couple.

The Making Memories Christmas line, which is a completely different take on the traditional Christmas collections.  How many of you love ledger?  There's a festive ledger paper that I can't wait to run through my trimmer.  Then there are the icon dots that will make any holiday layout a breeze.  Their new journaling book has acetate pages (think transparency) and is a must have with this line.  All the other accouterments such as ribbon, brads, flowers...they came along too.

And if the ledger-style Christmas isn't your thing, then we have Anna Griffin there for you.  Always traditional, always elegant...My favorite thing from this line is the flocked, die-cut snowflake paper.  I'm still up in the air as to how to play with that.  It's just so soft and pretty...

Going fast is the Jillibean Soup line.  The school line is perfect, especially as we develop our First Day of School photos and if you need help, Anne has the perfect school layout hanging up that you are welcome to copy.

And this owl craze that has hit the scrapbooking world...I just don't get it.  To me, owls are okay.  They aren't beautiful like flamingos or colorful like parrots, they are just brown with big eyes and weird pointy ears.  Okay...maybe there's something I just can't comprehend, or maybe there's an underground scrapbooking owl cult that I don't know about, but anyway, that paper line with the owls is dwindling.  Almost gone, I tell ya.

And while we're talking owls, we might as well talk birds.  They have their own cult too probably.  I'm not into birds either, but the bird on the Jillibean Soup Christmas paper I do like.  I don't know what manner of bird it is, possibly a partridge, 'cause that is the official Christmas bird, right?  Anyway it is really cute and so far, this is my favorite Christmas line.

Prima came yesterday and scattered the store with flowers...all shapes, all sizes, in any kind of container you might enjoy and along with the flowers came bling.  Blingy-bling.  Too much bling if that is even possible.  Beautiful centers for the beautiful flowers and flourishes made from pearls and flourishes out of bling, and oh so much more.

But here's what's from Prima that is really cool, and from what I saw yesterday, we'll probably need to get some more.  STITCHED PAGES.  The other night I decided to dust off my sewing machine after seeing the amazing things Michelle F. did at the crops the last couple of weeks.  After an hour of trying to remember how to fill the bobbin and then in what order the thread went on the machine and then deciding to call Delaney to actually put the thread through the needle, all the time cursing and screaming and ready to throw it out the window...but seriously.  Unless you grew up sewing, the dang machine is a challenge.  I don't know why it can't be easy, like a car.  You just put the key in the ignition and you're good to go.  But heck no.  A sewing machine is like my krypton.  I just don't have the sewing gene that my mother and grandmother had, and now it looks like my daughter has.  And if you're like me and freeze up thinking about a sewing machine, but love the look of stiched pages, well...Prima fixed that for us.  And they did a really fancy job too.  Several different ones to choose from, using their beautiful patterned paper and fancy stitchery...a must have for the sewing-machine-challenged ones (yep, I'm raising my hand).

And if you want to step out of the box and into the world of Donna Downey, we've got her entire canvas album collection.  This is the first thing I played with and actually made a couple of pages already.  I've got a canvas page wall hanging on display that took no time to do and I'm liking this.  I don't know how to explain this and I know this concept isn't for everyone, but there are some iron-on transfers that are pretty, not like the other ones we had a few years back; these are nice.  And fabric appliques.  And canvas words.  I added a bit of fabric to my canvas creation and as much as I hate that sewing machine, I love fabric.  And just on a side note here...we are so lucky to have probably the best place in the world to get fabric, right here off Main Street in Dunedin...Rainbow's End.  Want fabric that matches our paper?  She's got it.  Let's talk Heather Bailey, My Mind's Eye, Moda, Amy Butler.  The place is bigger than Publix and has the prettiest ribbon and the best buttons and the most gorgeous fabric in the world. Anyway...just in case you wanted to venture into the world of fabric on paper, there's your crack house.

And while we're talking crack...Tim Holtz crack is here.  And yes, the Rock Candy stickles and all the new and more old distress stickles, crackle paint, and anything else you might want.  We got more Tim Holtz stuff in, you know the stuff we have to reorder every week?  More metal toys and the new word sticks.  A few more tiny attachers are here for you too.  Can I just say again, I love my tiny attacher?

We're expecting a few more boxes in this week and as soon as I know what we've got, someone will let you know too.

And before I sign off...the Holiday Workshop is full.  Wow.  One week and we're full.  You put so much faith in us, but tell ya what, we're gonna make it rock this year.  We had our design team meeting last week and there was creativity just bouncing off the table.  We picked the best things from the best lines, did some research on line and you are going to be happy.  Seriously.  Now the workshop being full...that was the bad news, but here's a bit of good news.

Once we moved back into the old crop room, we have space for 28 people.  We originally had the Holiday workshop set for 25 people each day...but luckily the way we ordered the product, we can actually make kits for 3 extra people per class.  And now because we have room, we're opening up 3 spots both days.  Give us a call if you're interested...
